Series VI: Fusion

I. Line Work

A whisper from the grave

The saying "It's a Man's World" was taught throughout my childhood. Men had very defined roles in other eras of history. This is not the case now. The suit & tie are optional.

This art is a fusion of line work and digital editing, an unfinished portrait of the "old guard." It is unfinished, undefined, shaky. There's a bit of nerves in the posture, a quaking sensation in the lines.

We have choices and opportunities the Old Guard never had. Yet I wonder what such a man would think of the world now. Personally, I think he'd be shell-shocked.

II. Creative Photography

Observance

To me, viewing art is an act of sacred observance. In the midst of our Silence, the artist speaks to us. We see the intangible portion of the individual reaching out from the flow of consciousness. In those moments of creating the work, they exist as they are, alive in the space where thought ceases.

Here, I photographed myself with my favorite scarf, eyes closed, simultaneously holding paintbrushes and a finger to my lips. Walking in museums and galleries gives me the same feeling I have during meditation and being out in nature.

The world with its definitions and noise fades. Perception steps forward in the calm. And I am as I am.
